from peter crook { This image,
is the earliest of the Main Building that I / We know of,
I'm sure.} State on the Site: Circa , 1915-1924 , oldest known
image of the Main Building. Actually...oops , the 1911 post-
card may beat it by a close margin.
I found the pictures in a cottage that I had rented in Franconia
( not Sugar Hill ). That cottage, near the bridge to Sugar Hill ,
belonged to the Pierce family, who were from Rye, N.Y.
Their son Bob , who had been a Fran U student ( and was one of
three who I had added to the Memorial List )....had lived there
for some time. ( I shared the place with him for awhile and later
with others --Fall '75 to January '77.)
Anyway, Bob's grandmother Edith Pierce lived in that cottage for
decades. She is surely the source of the Old Porch picture and
the 1911 postcard.
